Black Equity with Ayana Evans and Tsedaye Makonnen

From Feb. 15 - 28th, 2021 Ortega y Gasset Projects will feature the work of Ayana Evans and Tsedaye Makonnen. The artists’ collaborative performance and video work focuses on commodification of Black bodies, bringing visibility to the experiences of Black women, and harnessing the power of community.
A limited run screening of a selection of the artists’ work will be featured on OyG’s virtual platforms (website, YouTube, IGTV) from Feb. 15 - 28th, culminating with a live event - The Ayana & Tsedaye Variety Show during which the artists will present a one time only performance featuring video clips of their collaborative work and visits from a number of surprise guests that the duo is in community with.
The Ayana & Tsedaye Variety Show will be broadcast live on Facebook and YouTube on Fri. Feb. 26th from 7:00 - 8:00 pm
During the run of the program, a selection of limited edition 11 x 14 in. prints by the artists will be sold through OyG online. Pricing and availability of the prints will be structured as follows:
Feb. 15th - 21st - “Black Discount Week” - All prints will be sold for $250 (including shipping) in editions of 20.
Feb. 22nd - 28th - “White Museum Rate Week” - All prints will be sold for $500 (including shipping) in editions of 20.
*All prints will be drop shipped from a print vendor and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by both artists.
